What a wonderful day, today turned out. I started my day at a yoga class, cooked lunch with my friends, and then edited portions of my fourth book; hopefully it will be published by June 2019. Altogether it has been a productive day. Do you ever wonder what pleases you in a day? Certainly, I am pleased when I receive flowers or gifts, join in festivities with friends whether theirs or mine, help someone out who is in a fix, have work that pleases me, give of myself with service, or get all those bills and correspondences off my desk with a little effort. I feel joy and I feel productive. When I feel those things, then I feel alive!
Today it is 65 degrees, sunny and breezy, and I live in New England. I feel the lightness of lifting off winter’s weather as if it were a heavy coat and too much for my shoulders. My magnolia bush/tree is about to fully bloom. When it does, it brings praise from all my neighbors. Its white blossoms stun me, but, alas, for perhaps seven to ten days, if I’m fortunate. Every year, as I am astounded by its magnificence, a sudden storm grabs every blossom from the tree and showers the ground with white petals — all gone in an hour. All that beauty, there for a few days, and gone in an hour.
Is the magnolia bush/tree a lesson for life telling us to appreciate the exceptional for it may suddenly be gone and bereft us? I sometimes think so! But again, I remind you that Today it is 65 degrees, sunny and breezy, and I live in New England and consider myself lucky.
