I walked my two miles this morning in the cold with some spotty but cold winds blowing. I almost turned around for home but stayed the course.
And I thought, “Staying the course is a choice.” When the winds blow cold, should we run for cover? When the winds don’t blow, nary a breeze, do we not act at all? When the winds blow warm, do we think it’s an invite to just laze along? Often when I’m writing, i do not have writer’s block but sometimes I feel a slowing down. Is it lack of motivation or perhaps physical or emotional fatigue? I don’t know. What I do know is the spirit to proceed is built into my soul and I continue. The journey of writing on those days is more difficult, but i still write. I stay the course.
Today January 7th the day after ‘Little Christmas’, the day of reckoning in the aftermath of violence and turmoil, I say, stay the course, and find a way toward affecting some common goals. Believe in the possibility of unity despite the scars left by dissension. I don’t know which side of the aisle from whence you travel, stay the course and bring back a loving, constitutional and law abiding America.
