In early December we celebrated one of our young people’s 30th birthday in a raucous celebration. Lots of folks in their 20’s and 30’s bringing their experiences to those older and younger. Attending was a 15 month old who thought this party was for her. Perhaps it was. She did have the most fun. Ideas flowed from wokeness to conservative values. Dress varied widely. Careers ran the gamut from medicine to human relations to retail to education to environmental science to cyber crime management. Of interest to me and different from my time in my twenties was the disinterest in discussing weddings, engagements, and children. The highlights of this time for this group was knowing which spots to hit on a weekend night. Laughter was the oil for the fitting together forty people for an intimate dinner party. The pandemic was not discussed not even by those older. The night felt normal and I for one was pleased. I so want normal in my daily life.

"My love affair with plots, murder, mystery, spies and, in general, with crime novels began at an early age. I read and read – probably have read 2,000 crime novels since then. Even at an early age, I developed my own plots if only to cover up my misdeeds to the chagrin of my family and teachers. Some less creative called it fibbing!
Now I write from the love of plot – of people and their ways –of life – of philosophy – about crime –about the sociopath/psychopath."
